Meet Gabriela Varas, Administrative and Accounting Assistant
September 14, 2018
The AccoutingRx team is made up of dedicated and talented individuals. In our Employee Spotlight series, you'll meet some of these people, learn what they do (on and off the clock), and how they make AccountingRx unique and fun.
Today, the spotlight is on Gabriela Varas. Gabriela is the Administrative & Accounting Assistant for AccountingRx. She earned a B.S. in International Studies with a minor in Political Science from Spring Hill College. We sat down with Gabriela to get to know her a little better—here's what she had to say.
What have you learned about yourself while working at AccountingRx?
So far, I've learned that variety really is the spice of life when it comes to enjoying my job day to day. Clay has given me free reign on many different projects and each time we complete one, the feeling of pride makes the hard work worth it!
What is your favorite part about working for AccountingRx?
I'd have to say it is the welcoming atmosphere. We are encouraged to maintain a healthy work-life balance, and Clay also does a good job of playing to each of our strengths as individuals so that the team as a whole is much stronger.
What is the best place you traveled to and what makes it the best?
I'm going to cheat and pick two! I've had the pleasure of visiting Colombia and Ecuador several times in my life. As a first generation American, it is very important to me to be able to connect with my cultural roots. My next goal is to take my husband, a southern boy from Alabama, back to the motherlands so he too can get to know that part of my culture.
What do you like to do in your free time?
We bought our first house a year ago, and I like to refurbish old wooden furniture I find at thrift shops and give the pieces new life. I'm also an avid makeup enthusiast! And as a true homebody, I like hanging out with my fur babies and my husband and watching standup comedy specials.
What are three traits that define you?
Loyal, honest and intuitive.
What could you not live without?
My family and friends.
What are you passionate about?
Advocating for mental health, including removing any remaining stigma that comes with it, mostly by having open and honest dialogue.
What do you think the world needs more of?
Knowledge, understanding and compassion.
